Conceived in 2001 to enhance the image, values, and significance of French owner-managed businesses, the Grand Prix de l’Entreprise Patrimoniale et Familiale is the brainchild of ASMEP (the association of medium-sized owner-managed companies) and Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch. Since 2007, the French Chapter of the FBN (Family Business Network) has provided support for the organization of the Award.
Thanks to the considerable know-how, strong communications, and extensive network built up by ASMEP since 1995, the Award candidates comprise some of the most important and most representative French medium-sized owner-managed companies. Each year, the Award therefore singles out the very best of the best, thus underpinning its value in the eyes of participating companies.
The Prize is open to companies with a turnover in excess of EUR 15 million; their managers must be major shareholders, either on their own or together with other members of their family.
The Jury judges the candidates on the basis of research by Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie’s analysts, who take not only financial factors into consideration, but also social and environmental criteria.
The Grand Prix de l’Entreprise Patrimoniale et Familiale therefore rewards family businesses that stand out from their peers for having successfully created the conditions for sustainable growth within a coherent and long-term strategy.
The trophy’s design – created for the 2008 Award by Christofle – draws on the reed for inspiration, since this symbolizes the values of growth, pugnacity, and flexibility, but also durability and resilience that the Grand Prix aims to promote.
